It’s Time To Blossom!

There may be a lot of crazy things happening in the world—what we like to call the good, bad, and interesting—so it’s always nice to take a moment and smell the roses … or in this case, the cherry blossoms. While California is experiencing an unofficial super bloom, other parts of the world are getting a feast for their eyes in the form of blooming cherry blossom trees. If you’re in the Washington, DC area or Japan, you know what we’re talking about!

But what makes cherry blossoms so special? Well, they only bloom once a year and last about two weeks before they start to fall. Here at Xyza, we’re taking a moment to enjoy the cherry blossoms and sharing some fun facts about the beautiful blooms below:

1.  Cherry blossoms are originally from Japan, but you often see cherry blossom trees in the United States because Japan gave plantings of cherry trees to the United States in 1912 as a symbol of friendship.

2.  Cherry blossoms are Japan’s national flower.

3.  While cherry blossoms are widely known to blossom in the springtime, they can bloom as early as January in the southern parts of Japan and as late as May in the northern parts.

4.  In Japan, the flowering cherry blossom, otherwise known as the sakura in Japanese, symbolizes how fragile and beautiful life can be.

5.  Although cherry blossoms are originally from Japan, the cherry blossom capital of the world is actually in Macon, Georgia. Macon is home to 300,000 Yoshino cherry blossom trees.
